Why Kolorize

Precision restoration, without the studio.

AI-driven color

A model trained on millions of restorations infers true, era-accurate color — not a tint, the real thing.

Try until satisfied

Generate as many variations as you like. Only pay when a result is right. Previews are always free.

Detail retained

Grain, focus and original resolution stay intact. Color is added beneath the photograph, never over it.

Private by default

Files travel over a 2048-bit encrypted connection and are deleted the moment processing finishes.

Restored with Kolorize

A century of memory, brought forward.

How it works

Three steps, about thirty seconds.

1

Upload your photo

Drag in any black-and-white image, up to 4096×4096. JPG, PNG and HEIC welcome.

2

Let the model work

Kolorize analyses tone, texture and context to rebuild color — in seconds, no settings to learn.

3

Preview & download

Compare against the original, pick your favourite pass, and download at full resolution.

In practice

What the colorizer actually does.

Before

Revive black-and-white memories

Rediscover the photographs in the back of the drawer. Kolorize reads the light and texture of a monochrome image and infers the color that was always there.

No brushes, no masks — just a faithful, full-color rendering of the moment as it happened.

Before

Compare every result

A straightforward three-step process produces several color interpretations. Slide between the original and each pass to see exactly what changed.

Choose the rendering that resonates most, and keep it — no commitment until you do.

Before

See it on your own photo

The fastest way to understand the difference is to try it. Upload one photograph and judge the result for yourself — the preview costs nothing.

Questions

Good to know.

What file formats are supported in Kolorize?

+

JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF and AVIF formats are supported. However, we will down sample the resolution to 4096x4096 if larger when using Kolorize. The file format of the downloaded file after processing will be in JPG.

What's the difference between Kolorize and others?

+

We employ advanced proprietary AI technology, which, although takes a little bit more time than traditional methods, yields the best results.

Is the colorization accurate?

+

Based on statistical principles, we colorize objects using the colors that have a higher probability of being their original shades. For example, a banana may be either yellow or green but is unlikely to be blue or purple. While this may not achieve a 100% reproduction of the original colors, it results in a reasonable approximation.

Is it possible to apply Kolorize to vintage photos with sepia or yellowish/reddish tones?

+

Certainly. The algorithms operate on every photograph, determining whether the initial photo was captured in black and white or color. Subsequently, they proceed to colorize or restore the colors accordingly.

How much time does it take to add color or restore colors in a photo?

+

Kolorize usually needs 3 to 8 seconds to add color or bring back colors in a photo. The time depends on how big the photo is and how much detail it has.

Are there photos on Kolorize that are colored or restored by people manually?

+

No, the entire process is automated and relies on specialized technology to accomplish the task without human intervention.

What's the credit?

+

Credits can be used to download processed images, with each download costing one credit. It's worth noting that downloading the same processed image with the same resolution multiple times will not consume additional credits.

How long is the credit valid?

+

The credit is valid for two years.

Can I use this for commercial purposes?

+

Yes, you can. All colorized results can be used anywhere.
